This Easter, take advantage of your corporate benefits and take part in our Easter activities.

During the school Easter holidays, families can join us at London Transport Museum to listen to a story time session about Mr Greathead who saw a problem with how tunnels were being built and how he found a solution!

We will highlight how Mr Greathead’s inspiring work as an engineer in the late 19th century  helped to save the lives of builders in the dangerous conditions underground and how we still benefit today from his work through Crossrail and Wallasea Island Bird Sanctuary.

Families can also take part in our Stay and Play activity, where they can build and imagine new places under and above ground using recycled materials.

Our story time and Stay and Play activities aim for families to understand the importance of learning and playing together and teaches them to think like engineers by problem solving to impact the world around them.

We are thankful to the help of the Crossrail team that have provided us with content development and volunteer support for the delivery of Easter family holidays activity.

After the Easter holidays, we will continue the story of Mr Greathead with our new primary school workshop.

Students will get to meet Mr Greathead with the help of our costumed actors and develop both their scientific and historic knowledge as they uncover what conditions were like both for miners working in the tunnels and for passengers travelling on the new deep level “tube”.

We have planned many exciting activities for the Year of Engineering through our Enjoyment to Employment programme, including the Great Summer of Engineering family programme.

With collaboration from our sponsors and Transport for London, we hope to leave a lasting legacy for the next generation and continue to inspire future engineers.
